CHANDIGARH: CPI(M) politburo member Barinda Karat would lead a party jatha from Amritsar on March 4 as part of the Sangharash Sandesh programme launched by the party. She would start the march after paying homage at Jallianwala Bagh.
The march would conclude at Delhi coinciding with a massive rally being organized by the party on March 19.
The jathas are being organized by the party to mobilise the people on issues including right to land and housing sites, right to food, right to education and health, employment, social justice and empowerment of women.
Punjab party secretary Charan Singh Virdi said the policies of the UPA Government at the Centre had resulted in continuous price rise, agrarian distress, growing unemployment and massive corruption. There was no difference between the Congress and the BJP as far as their basic policies were concerned, as both were pursuing bankrupt neo-liberal economic policies.
