Amritsar Rural Police have recovered 10.08 kg of heroin during a major anti-drug operation in the Lopoke police station area. The police also seized a .30 bore pistol, a magazine, and three live cartridges, marking a significant breakthrough in efforts to dismantle cross-border narcotics trafficking networks.
According to police officials, three individuals — Sajan Arora of Bhilowal, Vijaypal Singh of Sarai Amanat Khan, and Jashanpreet Singh of Gandiwind — have been named in the case. Acting on intelligence inputs, police arrested Jashanpreet Singh, while efforts are underway to trace the remaining accused and investigate their role in the smuggling network.
Preliminary investigations suggest that the accused were in contact with drug traffickers operating from Pakistan. Police believe the heroin consignment was part of a larger cross-border smuggling operation involving narcotics and illegal weapons.
Amritsar Rural Police said strict surveillance is being maintained along the border region to curb drug and arms trafficking. The investigation is now focused on identifying other members of the network and bringing them to justice. Police officials reiterated that the crackdown against drug smugglers will continue with full force.
