A 20-year-old man was brutally murdered after being repeatedly struck on the head with bricks in the Labour Colony located inside the Chaudhary Charan Singh Haryana Agricultural University (HAU) campus in Hisar, Haryana.
The deceased has been identified as Sunny, who worked as a labourer. Police have sent his body to the mortuary of the Civil Hospital for a post-mortem examination. Preliminary investigations suggest that personal enmity may have been the motive behind the murder.
Pankaj Kumar, in-charge of the HAU police post, said the crime was allegedly committed by three to four youths from the same Labour Colony. According to police, Sunny had an argument with some local youths three days before the incident.
The incident reportedly took place around 11 pm on Thursday when Sunny was returning home. The accused allegedly intercepted him on the way and attacked him with bricks lying nearby. They repeatedly struck his head, leaving him critically injured and bleeding on the spot. The attackers fled immediately after the assault.
Following the incident, HAU police post in-charge Pankaj Kumar reached the spot along with a police team. Sunny was rushed to the hospital, where doctors declared him dead.
Sunny's father and elder brother also work as labourers. Police have taken custody of the body and sent it for a post-mortem examination.
Pankaj Kumar said the police are investigating the case from all possible angles. Statements from the victim's family are yet to be recorded. Further action will be taken based on their statements and the post-mortem report.
