A major commotion erupted outside a hospital in Jalandhar following the death of a seven-year-old boy, with grieving family members alleging negligence and lack of communication by the hospital administration.
According to the family, the child was admitted to the hospital on Monday after suffering a head injury in a fall from a rooftop. Relatives alleged that despite the boy being under treatment, they were neither informed about his actual medical condition nor allowed to meet him.
The deceased child’s father, Shamsher, broke down while accusing the hospital of withholding crucial information. He said his financially struggling family was repeatedly asked to deposit money for medicines and medical tests, but was never given a clear update on the child’s health status.
Family members claimed that when they requested to see the child, hospital staff repeatedly postponed the visit, initially asking them to come at 5 pm, then 6 pm, and later between 7 pm and 8 pm. Growing suspicious, the family attempted to enter the ward, alleging that hospital bouncers and security personnel pushed and stopped them from doing so.
According to the relatives, the child’s uncle eventually managed to enter the treatment area after considerable effort and discovered that the boy had already died.
The family further alleged that even after the child’s death, hospital authorities continued to ask them to deposit money. Relatives claimed that had they been informed in time about the seriousness of the boy’s condition or allowed to shift him, they could have attempted to take him to another hospital for advanced treatment.
The incident triggered angry protests outside the hospital, with family members demanding an inquiry into the circumstances surrounding the child’s death and the hospital’s handling of the case. Hospital authorities had not issued an official response at the time of reporting.
