An eight-year-old girl was tragically mauled to death by a pack of stray dogs in Morinda, Rupnagar district of Punjab on Thursday. The child had left her home in the afternoon to buy milk from a nearby market when she reportedly got frightened after seeing a group of stray dogs.

In an attempt to save herself, she ran back towards her house, but the dogs chased and attacked her, inflicting severe injuries. A video of the incident has surfaced, showing the girl screaming for help as the dogs surrounded her. By the time local residents reached the spot and managed to rescue her, she had suffered critical injuries.

The girl was rushed to PGI for treatment, where doctors declared her dead. Her death has left the family devastated, with her mother reportedly inconsolable.

The incident has triggered widespread anger among local residents, who alleged that they had repeatedly complained to the Municipal Committee about the growing menace of stray dogs but no effective action was taken.

They claimed that timely intervention by the authorities could have prevented the tragedy and demanded adequate compensation for the victim’s family.
