The Game is Over For Drug Mafias Like Majithia, Jail is His Only Destination: Bhagwant Mann

Punjab Newsline, Ludhiana-

After a massive victory in the by-election, the AAP organized a "Dhanwad Sabha" in Ludhiana to express gratitude to the voters of Ludhiana West. On this occasion, the party’s National Convenor Arvind Kejriwal and Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann addressed a huge public gathering. They were accompanied by Punjab In-charge Manish Sisodia, State President Aman Arora, Working President Amansher Singh (Sherry Kalsi), and several senior leaders of the party.

Arvind Kejriwal, the national convenor of the Aam Aadmi Party, congratulated the people on the party’s resounding victories in the Ludhiana West and Gujarat by-elections. He said that Gujarat, considered a stronghold of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), witnessed a significant triumph where the AAP candidate won by more than 17,000 votes.

Kejriwal stated that the BJP was so furious over AAP's win in Gujarat that they immediately arrested one of the party’s MLAs. Challenging the BJP, he said that no matter how much the BJP tries to intimidate them, AAP will not be afraid. He added that the more the BJP oppresses, the stronger the public support will be for the Aam Aadmi Party.

Kejriwal said that the Ludhiana and Gujarat by-elections are the semi-finals for the 2027 elections. He claimed that the support received in these two by-elections clearly indicates that in 2027, AAP will form governments with a massive majority in both Punjab and Gujarat.

He said that in the past three years, the Aam Aadmi Party has done a lot of work in Punjab and the victory in Ludhiana West is the public’s stamp of approval on that work.

Targeting the Congress and BJP, Kejriwal said they no longer have any issues of public interest left. He said that while AAP talked about education, healthcare, roads, electricity, water, and drug de-addiction in the Ludhiana West by-election, the opposition only harped on one thing, that Kejriwal should not be allowed to go to the Rajya Sabha.

He clarified that the opposition spread the false rumor about his Rajya Sabha move just to mislead the public. “Immediately after the results, I held a press conference and made it clear that I will not go to the Rajya Sabha,” he said. Kejriwal accused the BJP and Congress of colluding with each other. He said that just like in Delhi, now in Punjab too, both parties are jointly opposing AAP.

He also accused the previous Congress and Akali-BJP governments for proliferation of drugs in Punjab. He said that these governments ruined the youth by trapping them in drug addiction, whereas the AAP government has launched a war against drugs. He said that strict action is being taken against drug peddlers and they are being sent to jail.

Kejriwal added that when a survey was conducted in 2017, Punjab ranked 29th in the country in education, but now due to the efforts of the Aam Aadmi Party, it has reached the top position. He said that this success has been made possible because of the hard work of teachers, students, principals, and officials.

He stated that in the past three years, boundary walls have been constructed for over 8,000 schools, toilets have been built, schools have been cleaned, security guards have been deployed, and now students no longer sit on mats but desks are provided in classrooms. He said that people are now saying they’ve never seen such work before.

Kejriwal said that when walls or toilets were inaugurated in schools, the Congress and BJP mocked it, but now people are asking them, “What did you do in 75 years?”

He further said that Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann is soon going to bring a strict law against sacrilege. But even this seems to be troubling the opposition parties. Targeting the Congress, he asked whether they will support this law or seek BJP’s permission first, since Congress leaders do everything only after getting approval from the BJP.

Kejriwal also praised the work done by the Mann government for farmers. He said that when AAP came to power, irrigation water reached only 20% of farmlands, but today canal water has reached 60% of the fields. Their target is to ensure canal irrigation water reaches 90% of farmlands by 2026-27.

Attacking the opposition, he said that AAP has done more work in three years than Congress and the Akali-BJP governments could do in 70 years. These parties only looted Punjab and filled their own pockets.

Addressing the massive crowd, Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann said that the AAP government is taking decisions keeping in mind the interests of the people of Punjab. The AAP government is working day and night for the welfare of the people. Mann said that under the leadership of Arvind Kejriwal, AAP has introduced a new kind of politics across the country.

Targeting the opposition parties, the Chief Minister said that Congress and Shiromani Akali Dal are now fighting for their existence. Their condition is such that they can’t even find people to form 11- or 21-member committees. He said Congress and Akali-BJP committed injustices against the people, incited them in the name of religion, and looted the state’s resources. That is why the people are now teaching them a lesson.

The Chief Minister said that their aim is not to turn Punjab into “California or London,” but to make it a strong and self-reliant Punjab, because Punjab’s cultural identity and people’s participation make it special.

He said that in the last three and a half years, his government has done unprecedented work in the field of education. Referring to a recent national-level survey, Mann said that around 28,000 students from different backgrounds and subjects participated in the survey, and Punjab ranked number one overall. Mann said that in 2017, Punjab was at the 29th position in education, but today it ranks first in all categories, credit goes to the hardworking teachers of the state.

Targeting Akali leader Bikram Majithia, the Chief Minister said that those who protected the killers of Jallianwala Bagh are now in Nabha jail, and those who supported them will not be spared either. He reiterated that the crackdown on those who destroyed Punjab’s youth through drugs is ongoing. Justice may be delayed due to legal processes, but it will certainly be served.

Attacking the opposition, the Chief Minister said that they only make statements and have no concern for common people. Highlighting his government’s achievements, Mann said that his government has provided over 55,000 government jobs without recommendations, purchased a thermal power plant, and every family is receiving 300 units of free electricity every month. Today, 90% of households in Punjab are receiving zero electricity bills.

He also launched a scathing attack on Ravneet Bittu and Charanjit Channi. He said that these are the same people who tried to mislead the public by calling Majithia’s arrest wrong, and are now apologizing. They are all in collusion. The people of Punjab are wise and will no longer fall into their trap.

The Chief Minister said that opposition leaders have nothing to show. Their politics is built on a foundation of lies. He announced that the special session of the Punjab Assembly will be held on July 10 and 11, where the lies of the opposition will be exposed.

Mann said that the AAP government is a government of the common people, only the common people have the right to run it. He appealed to all party workers to bring people’s issues to the attention of the government, and assured that his ministers will prioritize solving them.
