The annual Amarnath Yatra 2026 officially commenced on Thursday as Jammu and Kashmir Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha flagged off the first batch of pilgrims from Jammu amid tight security and elaborate arrangements.
Speaking on the occasion, BJP MP Jugal Kishore Sharma described the Amarnath Yatra as one of India's most significant religious pilgrimages. He expressed confidence that the pilgrimage would be conducted smoothly and safely, highlighting the growing enthusiasm among devotees. Sharma also prayed for the successful completion of this year's yatra.
Leader of the Opposition in the Jammu and Kashmir Assembly and BJP leader Sunil Sharma extended his best wishes to the pilgrims and praised the arrangements made by the Shri Amarnathji Shrine Board.
He said the facilities provided by the Shrine Board would ensure a comfortable and hassle-free journey for devotees. Sharma also predicted that this year's pilgrimage could witness a record turnout, surpassing the number of pilgrims seen in previous years.
Congratulating the authorities on the successful flagging off of the first batch, he expressed hope that the Amarnath Yatra 2026 would conclude peacefully and set new participation records.
