MP Amritpal Singh was presented before the Ajnala court on Wednesday (April 30) through video conferencing as his judicial custody period came to an end. During the hearing, the Punjab Police informed the court that the investigation in the case had been completed and subsequently submitted the chargesheet (challan).
Following the submission, the court ordered that the case be transferred to the Amritsar Sessions Court for trial. As per the directive, the trial proceedings will officially commence from May 2 at the sessions court.
Providing details, Advocate Rituraj Singh Sandhu stated that Singh was produced virtually due to the completion of his custody term. He confirmed that the prosecution had filed the chargesheet after concluding its probe and that further proceedings would now take place in the sessions court.
The advocate also revealed that in connection with FIR No. 39, all accused individuals have already been arrested and produced before the court, with Amritpal Singh being the final accused to be presented. As per court orders, Singh will continue to remain in judicial custody at a jail in Assam.
All future hearings in the case will be conducted via video conferencing.
