A 27-year-old man was shot dead outside his house in Amritsar following a dispute over moving a parked Activa scooter. The victim, identified as Amit, was allegedly fired at six times by the attackers late Friday night. Four bullets hit him in the head and abdomen, leaving him critically injured.

According to the victim's family, they heard sounds resembling firecrackers inside the house and rushed outside to find Amit lying in a pool of blood. They immediately attempted to take him to the hospital, but he succumbed to his injuries on the way.

The incident reportedly took place when Amit had parked his Activa scooter in the lane outside his house. Members of another group allegedly approached him and asked him to move the scooter to make way for their vehicle. Amit reportedly told them that he would move it and went to shift the scooter.

However, shortly afterwards, the family heard loud noises resembling firecrackers. When they rushed outside, they found Amit seriously injured with gunshot wounds. The family said they did not know what prompted the attackers to open fire.

Both the victim and the accused reportedly belonged to the same neighbourhood. According to the family, three real brothers were among the accused.

Following the incident, police launched an investigation and began raids to trace the suspects.

Baljinder Singh, SHO of Gate Hakima police station in Amritsar, said preliminary information suggested that the shooting followed an argument over moving the Activa scooter.

A case has been registered against the three brothers, he said, adding that no arrests had been made so far and raids were underway to apprehend the accused.
