Amritsar Commissionerate Police has busted an illegal arms smuggling network operating across the border and arrested four accused persons. The police have recovered 10 advanced pistols along with ammunition from their possession.
During the preliminary investigation, it has been revealed that the arrested individuals were working under the instructions of a smuggler based abroad. The accused were responsible for receiving weapon consignments sent from across the border and supplying them further to criminal elements. Police suspect that the network may have links to organized international crime syndicates.
FIRs have been registered at Chehharta and Makboolpura police stations. Police teams are now working to trace the entire chain of the network and identify all connections involved.
Investigators are also probing the origin of the weapons, the intended recipients, and other individuals connected to the racket. Authorities believe more arrests are likely as the investigation progresses.
Police have stated that further action will be taken based on evidence, and all individuals linked to the network will be brought to justice. Efforts are ongoing to identify both the foreign-based handler and his local associates. The investigation remains in progress.
