Amritsar Commissionerate Police have busted three networks allegedly involved in drug trafficking and the illegal supply of firearms, arresting five people in separate operations. Police recovered 13 pistols, 3.267 kg of heroin and 22 live cartridges from the accused.
According to police, preliminary investigation has revealed that the arrested suspects were allegedly involved in supplying illegal weapons and narcotics. Investigators are now working to identify other people linked to the networks and determine the source of the weapons and heroin.
Separate FIRs have been registered at D Division Police Station and Chheharta Police Station in Amritsar. The arrested accused are being questioned to gather more details about the wider network.
Police are also investigating the possible role of handlers based abroad in the operations. Officials said further action will be taken against others found to be involved in the networks.
