Amritsar Commissionerate Police has busted three networks allegedly involved in the illegal supply of firearms and arrested eight accused in the case on Wednesday.

Police recovered 15 illegal pistols and 15 live cartridges from the arrested suspects.

According to the preliminary investigation, the accused were allegedly in contact with arms smugglers based abroad. They reportedly procured illegal weapons from these contacts and supplied them to criminals involved in various activities.

Investigators have also gathered information about several other individuals allegedly linked to the networks. Separate FIRs have been registered at Cantonment, Islamabad and Chheharta police stations.

The arrested accused are being questioned as police conduct a detailed investigation into the entire arms supply chain. Efforts are also underway to identify and apprehend other people allegedly involved in the illegal weapons trade.

Punjab Police said that action against illegal arms smuggling and organised crime will continue.
