Amritsar Rural Police has busted two separate illegal arms and narcotics supply networks and arrested four people, recovering 10 kg of heroin and 10 illegal pistols, Punjab DGP Gaurav Yadav said on Friday.

The arrests were made as part of the ongoing crackdown on cross-border smuggling networks under the directions of Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann.

The accused have been identified as Rajanpreet Singh of Galluwal, Vijay of Rajatal Colony in Gharinda, Parasdeep Singh alias Billa of Kamboa, and Gurmukh Singh alias Bodi of Kahangarh in Attari.

According to DGP Gaurav Yadav, preliminary investigation has revealed that the accused were allegedly linked to foreign-based smugglers and were involved in procuring illegal weapons and narcotics. Police are conducting further investigation to establish the complete network and trace its backward and forward linkages.

Inspector General of Police, Border Range, Gurpreet Singh Bhullar said the police conducted two separate operations based on specific intelligence inputs.

In the first operation, a team from Gharinda Police Station intercepted Rajanpreet Singh and Vijay on information regarding an illegal weapons supply network. Police recovered 10 illegal pistols from their possession.

In the second operation, police teams acted on information regarding a cross-border narcotics network and arrested Parasdeep Singh alias Billa and Gurmukh Singh alias Bodi. The police recovered 10 kg of heroin from them. IGP Bhullar said Parasdeep Singh is a suspected drug smuggler who was allegedly operating a drug cartel in the region.

SSP Amritsar Rural Kanwalpreet Singh Chahal said two separate cases have been registered at Gharinda Police Station. FIR No. 422, dated September 27, 2026, has been registered under Section 25 of the Arms Act, while FIR No. 423, dated September 28, 2026, has been registered under Section 21 of the NDPS Act.

Further investigation is underway to uncover the wider network and identify other people allegedly involved in the smuggling operations.
