Amritsar Rural Police have busted two interstate organised narcotics networks and arrested three accused. During the twin operations, police recovered a total of 6.582 kg of heroin and ₹9.90 lakh in suspected drug money. The seized heroin is estimated to be worth around ₹40 crore in the international market.
The first operation was carried out in the Ajnala police station area, while the second was conducted under the Beas police station jurisdiction. Separate FIRs have been registered under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act, and further investigation is underway.
Police officials said the accused are being questioned to determine the source of the heroin consignment and identify the intended recipients of the drugs.
Investigators are now examining both the forward and backward linkages of the trafficking network to uncover the entire supply chain. Authorities are also working to identify other members of the syndicate, their roles, and the extent of the network's operations across different states and regions.
Punjab Police reiterated that its anti-drug campaign will continue with full force, stressing that the focus is not only on arresting traffickers but also on dismantling the entire drug supply network to protect the state's youth from the menace of narcotics.
