Apple is reportedly preparing for its annual hardware launch event, and industry reports suggest the company may be planning a major surprise beyond the expected iPhone 18 Pro lineup.
According to Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman, Apple has already started work on press announcements, keynote videos, advertisements, retail store material, and other launch preparations for the upcoming event, indicating that the company is entering the final stages of planning.
The biggest talking point is the possibility of Apple’s first foldable iPhone. Reports suggest the device could be marketed as the iPhone Ultra, which would mark Apple’s entry into the rapidly growing foldable smartphone segment currently led by Samsung. Analysts believe such a launch could significantly increase competition in the premium foldable market.
In addition to the foldable device, Apple is expected to introduce the iPhone 18 Pro and iPhone 18 Pro Max. The company may also launch the Apple Watch Series 12 and Apple Watch Ultra 4 as part of its next-generation wearable lineup.
The event could also bring updates to Apple’s home and entertainment ecosystem, including a new Apple TV and a refreshed HomePod mini.
Reports further claim that Apple has informed retail employees that the launch event is likely to take place in the first half of September. While no official date has been announced, September 9 is being considered the most likely option based on Apple’s traditional launch schedule.
Apple usually holds its iPhone launch event on the second Tuesday or Wednesday of September, and industry observers believe that timing makes September 9 a strong possibility for this year’s showcase.
If the rumours prove accurate, Apple’s upcoming launch could become one of its most significant hardware events in recent years, with the potential debut of a foldable iPhone emerging as the biggest surprise of the show.
