Punjab Social Security, Women and Child Development Minister Dr. Baljit Kaur chaired a high-level meeting to review the implementation of the State Action Plan for Senior Citizens (SAP) 2026-27 and announced the launch of the state-level ‘Sade Buzurg Sada Maan’ campaign on October 1 from Sri Muktsar Sahib.

Dr. Baljit Kaur said the Punjab Government has allocated ₹598.75 lakh to strengthen healthcare, social security, caregiver training, digital literacy and welfare services for senior citizens. She directed departments to ensure regular health camps, eye check-ups, timely treatment and better geriatric care across the state.

Minister said the campaign will promote respect and dignity for the elderly while creating awareness about their rights and welfare schemes. She emphasized that caring for senior citizens is a collective responsibility of both the government and society.
