Barnala police have arrested three accused allegedly involved in the firing incident at the ancestral house of Punjabi singer Gulab Sidhu. According to police sources, the arrested individuals belong to different parts of Punjab and had reportedly arrived at the scene on a motorcycle on the night of the attack.
While no senior district police official has officially confirmed the arrests so far, authorities have announced that the entire case will be disclosed during a press conference scheduled for 1 pm today at the SSP Barnala’s conference hall. Patiala Range DIG Kuldeep Singh Chahal will be present and is expected to present the accused before the media and reveal the conspiracy behind the attack.
The firing incident took place between 1:30 am and 2:00 am on the intervening night of September 12 and 13 at Sidhu’s ancestral residence in Farwahi village.
CCTV footage reportedly showed three youths arriving on a motorcycle and stopping outside the house. The man seated in the middle allegedly loaded a pistol and opened fire, while another youth sitting behind him also fired shots. The rider of the motorcycle is said to have recorded the incident on video. The footage reportedly captures the three suspects approaching the residence before carrying out the attack.
Singer Gulab Sidhu was not present at the house when the firing occurred, and no injuries were reported in the incident.
Notably, on January 10, 2026, Barnala police had arrested three persons for allegedly plotting an attack on Gulab Sidhu. The main conspirator was identified as Baljinder Singh alias Kinda, the sarpanch of Kotduna village.
Police had stated that the accused were upset over the lyrics of Sidhu’s song “Sarpanchiyan” and had also allegedly threatened the singer on social media. Investigators had claimed that the accused were planning to target the singer during a live performance and intended to create fear in Punjab before engaging in extortion activities.
Police are expected to provide further details regarding the latest arrests and the motive behind the firing during the official briefing later today.
