Punjab Congress in-charge Bhupesh Baghel will undertake a 10-day tour of Punjab from August 30 to assess the party’s organizational preparedness and gather grassroots feedback ahead of the 2027 Punjab Assembly elections.
In the first phase of the visit, Baghel will arrive in Chandigarh on August 30. He will then travel across various assembly constituencies and hold meetings with Congress office-bearers and party workers. Former candidates who contested the 2022 Assembly elections, district Congress committee presidents, block Congress presidents, constituency heads, mandal presidents, and block committee members have been invited to participate in these meetings.
The primary objective of the exercise is to formulate the party’s strategy for the 2027 elections, strengthen the organization down to the booth level, and discuss the framework for the upcoming election campaign. The leadership is also expected to conduct detailed deliberations on constituency-wise organizational status, local issues, and suggestions from party workers.
Punjab Congress organizational affairs general secretary Captain Sandeep Sandhu has issued instructions to all concerned office-bearers to ensure their mandatory participation in the meetings. He emphasized that the presence of all designated functionaries during interactions with Bhupesh Baghel should be ensured.
Notably, Baghel had earlier spent six days in Chandigarh, holding separate meetings with senior Punjab Congress leaders. During that visit, he reportedly submitted a detailed report to the Congress high command on factionalism and organizational issues within the state unit. Following the report, the high command decided against any major reshuffle in Punjab Congress election committees or the organizational structure.
