Punjab Education Recruitment Directorate has announced a major recruitment drive for aspiring lecturers in government schools, issuing an official notification for the recruitment of 1,013 Lecturer Cadre posts.

The online application process will commence on July 1, 2026, and eligible candidates can submit their applications through the department's official website until July 31, 2026.

According to the notification, the recruitment includes 829 fresh vacancies and 184 backlog vacancies across 12 subjects.

The highest number of vacancies has been announced for History (210 posts), followed by English (141), Political Science (131), Mathematics (105), Punjabi (99), Commerce (98), Physics (58), Economics (50), Chemistry (41), Biology (37), Hindi (29), and Geography (14).

To be eligible, applicants must possess a Master's degree in the relevant subject with at least 55% marks along with a Bachelor of Education (B.Ed.) degree from a recognized university.

Candidates must also have passed Punjabi at the Matriculation (Class 10) level as either a compulsory or elective subject. Indian citizenship is mandatory for all applicants.

The recruitment notification states that selected lecturers will receive a fixed basic salary ranging from ₹34,500 to ₹35,400 per month during a three-year probation period. No government allowances, including Dearness Allowance (DA) or House Rent Allowance (HRA), will be applicable during probation. Upon successful completion of the probation period, candidates will become eligible for the regular pay scale along with all admissible government benefits.

The minimum age for applicants is 18 years, while the maximum age limit is 37 years. Age relaxation will be provided to candidates belonging to reserved categories, including Scheduled Castes (SC), Scheduled Tribes (ST), persons with disabilities, and government employees, as per Punjab government rules.
