Punjab BJP's newly appointed state president, Kewal Singh Dhillon, made his first official visit to New Delhi after taking charge of the party's state unit. During the visit, Dhillon held a series of meetings with senior Union ministers and key leaders to discuss Punjab's development priorities and security concerns.
Dhillon met Union Rural Development Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan, Union Law and Justice Minister Arjun Ram Meghwal, and Delhi Lieutenant Governor Tarunjit Singh Sandhu. He is also expected to meet Union Home Minister Amit Shah and BJP leadership during his Delhi tour.
During his meeting with Arjun Ram Meghwal, Dhillon highlighted Punjab's current challenges and emphasized the state's strategic importance as a border state. He stressed that maintaining peace and ensuring citizens' safety are crucial for India's internal security.
Dhillon sought the Centre's support in strengthening law and order, curbing crime, and addressing the growing drug menace affecting Punjab's youth. Meghwal assured him that the Central Government would extend all possible assistance to improve security and support the state's overall development.
In a separate meeting with Shivraj Singh Chouhan, Dhillon advocated for the accelerated implementation of key Central Government schemes in rural Punjab, including the PM Awas Yojana, Jal Jeevan Mission, rural road infrastructure projects, and farmer welfare initiatives.
Chouhan assured full support to the BJP's newly formed leadership team in Punjab. Dhillon also urged the Centre to provide greater assistance for strengthening the state's agricultural sector and boosting rural prosperity.
