Speculation has intensified over the political future of BJP national spokesperson Shehzad Poonawalla after he removed the designation “National Spokesperson, BJP” from his profile on X (formerly Twitter). Reports circulating on social media suggest that he may have resigned from the party, although no official confirmation has been issued so far.

On Thursday, Poonawalla shared a screenshot of his updated X profile. His new bio reads: “Religion: Islam, Culture: Hindu, Ideology: Indian. Author: GST Ki Yatra. Lifelong follower of PM Narendra Modi.” The earlier reference to his role as BJP national spokesperson has been removed.

Interestingly, his Instagram profile still identifies him as a BJP National Spokesperson, and the same description had appeared on his X account until recently. He has also reposted clips from some of his older interviews in which he spoke about considering a departure from active politics, further fueling speculation online.

Shehzad Poonawalla is a lawyer and activist by profession. He began his political journey with the Congress Party but joined the Bharatiya Janata Party in December 2017 after publicly alleging irregularities in the Congress presidential election. In 2021, he was appointed in charge of the Delhi BJP social media wing.

Known as a vocal supporter of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and the BJP, Poonawalla has frequently appeared on television debates where he strongly criticized the Congress party and Rahul Gandhi.

As of now, neither the BJP nor Shehzad Poonawalla has issued any statement regarding a resignation or withdrawal from active politics. While the change in his X bio has sparked widespread discussion, the matter remains purely speculative at this stage.
