AAP Punjab Women Wing President and Moga MLA Dr. Amandeep Kaur Arora on Thursday alleged that she was pressured to join the BJP in exchange for a ministerial position during a 42-hour-long Enforcement Directorate (ED) raid at her residence.
Addressing a press conference, Arora claimed that the ED conducted extensive searches at her residence and hospital but failed to recover any money or evidence of wrongdoing. She alleged that her family, including her young children, remained confined at home during the operation.
“I was repeatedly pressured to join the BJP and even offered a ministerial position. However, I rejected the offer. The Aam Aadmi Party is my parent party, and I will remain committed to it,” she said.
Arora said she was questioned about certain financial transactions involving Bipan Unkara and Rakesh Sitara relating to the period before the formation of the AAP government. She claimed that no evidence of money laundering or irregularities was found.
She further alleged that the BJP was using central agencies to target opposition leaders and said neither threats nor political inducements could shake her loyalty to AAP.
Meanwhile, AAP Punjab Media In-charge Baltej Pannu also alleged that the ED raid had yielded nothing and claimed that Arora was offered prominent political positions to join the BJP. He accused the Central Government of misusing investigative agencies to put pressure on opposition leaders.
