Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has announced its intention to contest all 117 seats in the next Punjab Assembly elections and form the government in the state. The declaration was made by BJP National General Secretary (Organisation) B.L. Santosh during a regional organisational meeting in Patiala.
Santosh said Punjab is ready for change and asserted that the BJP is committed to delivering it. He is currently on a two-day organisational tour of Punjab, during which he is reviewing the party’s activities and election preparedness through a series of regional meetings with party leaders and office-bearers.
Upon his arrival at Mohali airport, Santosh was welcomed by Punjab BJP President Kewal Singh Dhillon and state co-incharge Narendra Singh Raina. Discussions during the meetings have focused on preparations for the upcoming Assembly elections, with special emphasis on strengthening the party’s organisational structure down to the booth level.
BJP is also intensifying efforts to communicate its policies and the achievements of the Narendra Modi-led central government to the people of Punjab. Santosh chaired organisational meetings in Patiala and Bathinda on Sunday, while similar meetings are scheduled in Ludhiana, Jalandhar and Amritsar on August 25. A separate meeting with the party’s state general secretaries is also planned in Amritsar.
Party leaders said the meetings are aimed at reviewing grassroots-level functioning, improving coordination among workers and reinforcing organisational preparedness across Punjab, signalling the BJP’s push to strengthen its presence in the state ahead of the elections.
