A major accident occurred during the Bharatiya Janata Party’s (BJP) rally in Mansa district on Wednesday, leaving one party worker dead and five others seriously injured. Following the incident, the BJP temporarily halted its anti-drug campaign in the region.
The accident took place near Kot Dharmu village when a Swift car carrying BJP workers collided with a truck. The party leaders were returning to Mansa after attending a rally in Jhunir town as part of the BJP’s statewide campaign against drug abuse.
According to reports, six BJP workers, including district vice-president Vinod Kali, were travelling in the car at the time of the crash. The impact of the collision left all occupants injured.
Senior BJP leader H.S. Phoolka confirmed that Arshdeep Singh died in the accident. District vice-president Vinod Kali sustained critical injuries and was referred to DMC Hospital in Ludhiana for advanced treatment. The other injured workers were shifted to AIIMS Bathinda.
After the incident, BJP leaders visited the Civil Hospital in Mansa to inquire about the condition of the injured. Expressing grief over the tragedy, party leaders said the loss was devastating for the bereaved family and assured them of the BJP’s support during this difficult time.
