The Punjab Building and Other Construction Workers' Welfare Board organized camps at labour chowks across 19 Districts in Punjab (where the Model Code of Conduct is not enforced). This initiative was undertaken following directions issued by the Labour Minister, Tarunpreet Singh Sond, in a review meeting held on last week of October 2024.

Divulging the details, a spokesperson said that, to register maximum construction workers, Board officials have organized these camps at labour chowks from 7:00 AM to 10:00 AM. These camps will continue from 18 to 23 November, 2024. In those Districts where Model Code of Conduct is currently enforced, the camps will be organized from 25 to 29 November. The officials also generated awareness about the Board's welfare schemes and their financial benefits.

Sond stated that the BOCW Welfare Board offers benefits under various schemes, including the Stipend Scheme, Shagun Scheme, General Surgery Scheme, Pension Scheme, Maternity Scheme etc. However, he emphasized that construction workers must register with the Board to avail these benefits.
