Panic gripped Shivalik Public School in Phase-6, Mohali, on Friday after the school received a bomb threat email, forcing authorities to evacuate students and suspend classes ahead of schedule.
According to school officials, the email warned that a blast would occur at 1:10 pm and instructed that the school premises be vacated immediately. The message allegedly referred to the Khalistan National Army and also mentioned individuals residing in Canada.
The threatening email further claimed that explosions would take place at schools in Mohali, railway tracks, the Mohali Mayor’s office, and the Punjab Legislative Assembly, prompting immediate concern among school authorities.
After receiving the message, the school management informed the Mohali Police, which swiftly launched a search operation on the campus.
School staff evacuated students from their classrooms and gathered them in open areas for safety. Parents were contacted and asked to pick up their children immediately, while students who normally travel by school buses were sent home through the regular transport system.
Police personnel conducted a thorough inspection of the school premises, but no suspicious or objectionable object was found during the search.
Authorities are now investigating the source and authenticity of the email, and security agencies are examining whether the threat was a hoax or part of a wider attempt to create panic in the region.
