Panic gripped the Ferozepur Court Complex after a bomb threat email was reportedly sent to the official email account of the Sessions Judge, warning that the complex would be blown up.
Following the threat, authorities immediately evacuated the court premises as a precautionary measure. Police, bomb disposal squads and other security agencies launched a thorough search operation to check for any explosive material.
Officials also decided to suspend court proceedings until 1 pm to ensure the safety of judges, lawyers, court staff and visitors.
According to members of the legal fraternity, this is the third bomb threat received by the Ferozepur Court Complex. Similar threats had reportedly been received on two previous occasions as well. Police are currently examining the email and investigating its source while continuing an intensive search of the entire premises.
Similar Threat Reported at Zira Court Complex
A similar atmosphere of fear emerged at the Zira Court Complex after another bomb threat was received through email. The police administration swung into action immediately and evacuated the complex as a precaution.
Search teams have been deployed to conduct a comprehensive inspection of the court premises. The operation is being supervised by SHO Jaswinder Singh Brar, who is leading the investigation.
Harvinder Singh Karwal, President of the Bar Council, said that the police were informed as soon as the threatening email was received. He added that security arrangements were strengthened and police officials are now investigating the matter.
No explosive material had been recovered from either court complex at the time of the latest reports, and investigations are ongoing.
