A major security scare unfolded in Ludhiana after senior officials of the Municipal Corporation received a threatening email warning of bomb blasts at the Mayor’s Office and the residence of Punjabi singer Diljit Dosanjh.
According to officials, the email was sent on Monday morning, May 25, to the Municipal Commissioner and other government email IDs. The subject line of the mail reportedly read, “B0mb Blast - Mayor Office Ludhiana!”
The email specifically mentioned timings for the alleged attacks. It threatened an explosion targeting the Ludhiana Mayor’s Office at 1:11 PM and another blast at Diljit Dosanjh’s Ludhiana residence at 9:11 PM. The message also warned that “anyone helping Diljit Dosanjh will be killed.”
The threat email reportedly referred to the 1984 anti-Sikh riots and used the phrase “blood for blood.” It further claimed that bomb attacks would continue until June 6.
At the end of the threatening email, the sender claimed responsibility in the name of “KHALISTAN National ARMY.” The message also mentioned two individuals — Engineer Gurnakh Singh, identified as Rukan Shahwala, and Dr. Gurnirvair Singh, identified as Khan Rajada — as part of the group behind the threat.
Following the threat, the police department and cyber cell have gone on high alert. Authorities have launched an urgent investigation to trace the IP address and identify the sender of the email. Security around the Mayor’s Office and other sensitive locations is also expected to be tightened.
