Panic gripped Punjab’s Faridkot district on Thursday after bomb threats were issued to three educational institutions ahead of Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann’s scheduled Shukrana Yatra.
According to officials, the threats were sent via email targeting a government girls school in sadiq, Dashmesh public school faridkot and Dasmesh Dental College. The alerts triggered immediate action from the district police and security agencies.
As a precautionary measure, all three institutions were swiftly evacuated, and extensive search operations were launched. Police teams thoroughly scanned classrooms, buildings, and surrounding areas to ensure safety.
The Chief Minister is scheduled to visit Faridkot and Kotkapura as part of his ongoing Shukrana Yatra, prompting authorities to heighten security across the region.
Deputy Superintendent of Police Tarlochan Singh said that police responded promptly after receiving the threat. “So far, no suspicious or prohibited items have been recovered from any of the institutions,” he stated.
Despite no immediate danger being found, authorities declared a holiday in the affected institutions as a precautionary step to prevent any untoward incident. Security agencies continue to remain on high alert while investigations into the source of the threat are underway.
