Chandigarh witnessed a major security scare after four schools in different parts of the city received bomb threats simultaneously, triggering panic among police and security agencies.
According to officials, the Chandigarh Police Control Room received information about threats to blow up the schools. The matter was immediately treated as highly sensitive, and security teams were rushed to all the affected institutions.
The schools that received the threats are:
Carmel Convent School, Sector 9B
St. John’s High School, Sector 26
Sacred Heart Senior Secondary School, Sector 26
St. Stephen’s School, Sector 45B
Police officers said security was tightened in and around all four schools soon after the alert was received. Teams conducted inspections of the school premises and surrounding areas, while bomb detection squads and dog squads were deployed to carry out thorough searches.
Officials have not yet disclosed the phone number from which the threatening call was made or the exact nature of the threat. So far, no explosive device or suspicious object has been found at any of the schools.
Security has also been enhanced in nearby localities as a precautionary measure. Police are simultaneously conducting technical investigations to trace the source of the threat and verify its authenticity.
