Two young men lost their lives in a tragic road accident in Himachal Pradesh's Chamba district after their car veered off the road and plunged into a deep gorge on the Chamba–Pathankot National Highway late Tuesday night.

The accident occurred around 2 a.m. near Chhatri Bend, close to Goli. According to preliminary reports, the car lost control and fell nearly 800 feet into the gorge before rolling down to another road below. The impact was so severe that the vehicle was completely wrecked.

The deceased have been identified as 29-year-old Lakhan, son of Manohar Lal, and 31-year-old Ankush, son of late Gyan Chand, both residents of Saru village near Chamba town. However, officials are yet to issue an official confirmation regarding their identities.

Soon after receiving information about the accident, Dalhousie DSP Mayank Chaudhary reached the spot along with a police team to oversee the rescue operation. Fire and emergency services personnel also arrived at the scene and climbed down the gorge to recover the bodies.

Police have launched an investigation into the cause of the accident, while further legal proceedings are underway.
