The Chandigarh Administration has revised the date of the official public holiday for Eid-ul-Zuha (Bakrid). The holiday, earlier scheduled for May 27, 2026, will now be observed on May 28, 2026 (Thursday).
According to a fresh notification issued by the administration, the list of holidays has been partially modified. As per the updated order, all government offices, boards, corporations, institutions, and industrial establishments under the Chandigarh Administration will remain closed on May 28.
Officials stated that the decision was taken considering the possibility of moon sighting and the likely date of the festival.
The revised notification has been issued by Home Secretary Diprava Lakra.
Meanwhile, Punjab has also revised its Eid holiday schedule. As per the state government’s notification, the Eid holiday will now be observed on May 28 instead of May 27, following amendments made in line with the Government of India’s updated advisory.
