Chandigarh Administration has completed 100% door-to-door verification under the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of the electoral rolls, with the verification exercise concluding on July 14. The administration is set to announce the third phase of the SIR campaign today, sharing details on the progress and achievements of the exercise.

With the verification process now complete, the names of 66,681 voters who failed to submit the required forms within the stipulated deadline will be excluded from the draft electoral roll, scheduled for publication on July 21. These voters will not be included in the draft list at this stage.

According to the Election Department, the exclusions are being carried out in accordance with the prescribed procedure under the Special Intensive Revision campaign. After the draft electoral roll is released, eligible citizens will have the opportunity to file claims and objections. Any eligible voter whose name has been omitted can apply for inclusion through the prescribed process.

Election Department stated that the objective of the special revision is to make the electoral roll more accurate and transparent by removing the names of fake, deceased, permanently shifted, and otherwise ineligible voters. Those who did not submit their forms within the specified timeline will not feature in the draft electoral roll.
