The second phase of enrolment for Civil Defence Volunteers (CDV) will begin again from Thursday, May 8, as the administration moves ahead with its plan to build a trained civilian force capable of supporting the administration and armed forces during emergencies and disasters.
A special registration camp will be organised at the Women’s Building in Sector 38, Chandigarh. Interested citizens can visit the venue from 12 noon onwards on May 8 to complete their registration process. The administration has appealed to residents to participate in large numbers and become part of the initiative.
Eligibility Criteria for Applicants
Applicants must be Indian citizens.
Youth between 18 and 40 years of age are eligible to apply.
Candidates must be physically and mentally fit.
Applicants should not have any criminal record.
Applications Open for Multiple Posts
Apart from Civil Defence Volunteers, applications have also been invited for several organisational positions under the Civil Defence setup. These include:
Chief Warden
Deputy Chief Divisional Warden
Deputy Divisional Warden
Post Warden
Sector Warden
419 Volunteers Trained in First Batch
Earlier in 2025, the administration formed the first batch of Civil Defence Volunteers, in which 419 volunteers were trained. The seven-day training program was conducted at MGSIPA.
During the training, experts and volunteers from the Army’s Western Command, National Disaster Response Force, fire services, and the health department trained participants in disaster response and emergency management techniques.
