The weather in Chandigarh changed dramatically on Thursday evening as rainfall lashed several parts of the city. Following the showers, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a Yellow Alert for Friday, warning of the possibility of heavy rainfall throughout the day.
According to the weather department, cloudy skies are expected to persist, with intense rain likely at multiple locations across Chandigarh. The forecast has raised concerns over possible waterlogging on roads and disruptions to traffic movement, especially in low-lying areas.
Authorities have cautioned that accumulated rainwater may create difficulties for commuters and motorists. Residents have been advised to avoid unnecessary travel during periods of heavy rain and step out only when essential.
Weather experts have also urged people to stay away from open spaces, trees, and electricity poles during intense rainfall and thunderstorms. Drivers have been advised to exercise extra caution while navigating waterlogged roads to prevent accidents.
Meanwhile, the rainfall is expected to bring relief from recent warm conditions, with temperatures likely to drop as the weather system remains active over the region on Friday.
