Chandigarh Congress has launched a unique protest against rising inflation by organising a ‘Sugar Langar’ at the Congress Bhawan in Sector 35, where free packets of sugar are being distributed to the public.

Congress workers brought packets of sugar and are distributing them among residents to highlight the recent rise in prices. Chandigarh Congress president HS Lucky said sugar prices have increased by around ₹15 to ₹20 at several places in recent times, putting additional pressure on household budgets.

Lucky alleged that the government has failed to take adequate steps to control inflation. He said the prices of essential commodities, including food items and fuel, have continued to affect ordinary families.

He further alleged that since the BJP came to power, inflation has been putting a growing burden on the common man. From petrol to essential food items, prices have continued to fluctuate, he said.

Lucky said petrol prices are first increased and then reduced by a few rupees, only to rise again later. According to him, such changes directly affect household expenses, including kitchen costs, transportation and other daily necessities.

The Congress president said sugar is an essential commodity used in almost every household, and its sudden price rise has added to people's difficulties. Through the Sugar Langar, the party said it is registering its protest against the government's policies and drawing attention to the rising cost of living.
