A commission agent was allegedly stabbed to death following a dispute over vehicle parking at the Sector 26 vegetable market in Chandigarh on Friday night. The victim, identified as 43-year-old Deshraj, was a resident of Una, Himachal Pradesh. The accused, another arhtiya identified as Vinod, along with his sons, is reportedly from Uttar Pradesh.
According to police, Deshraj and Vinod used small pickup vehicles to bring vegetables from their respective areas and sell them at the Sector 26 market. At around 10 pm on Friday, Vinod allegedly arrived at the market with his sons and asked Deshraj to move his vehicle.
The argument over parking soon escalated into a physical altercation. According to the victim’s family, Vinod and his sons allegedly pulled out knives and attacked Deshraj. He sustained serious injuries and collapsed at the spot.
People present at the market reportedly tried to intervene, but the accused fled the scene along with their sons. Police rushed Deshraj to GMCH-32, where doctors declared him dead.
Senior police officers reached the spot after receiving information about the murder. A mobile forensic team collected bloodstains and other evidence from the scene. Police are also examining CCTV footage from the surrounding area to reconstruct the sequence of events.
The body has been sent for post-mortem examination. Police teams are conducting raids at possible locations to trace the main accused Vinod and his sons. Further investigation is underway.
