The alleged mastermind behind the murder of Shri Kumar Medical Store cashier Janki Das in Chandigarh's Sector 11, Amit Kumar, has been remanded to police custody for another seven days by a Jammu court. The extension means Chandigarh Police will have to wait longer before they can interrogate him in connection with the murder case.

Amit, the prime accused in the case, was arrested by Jammu Police after being on the run. Following his arrest, he was produced before a court, which initially granted a seven-day police remand. After the completion of the first remand, the court approved another seven-day extension to allow investigators to continue questioning him.

Jammu Police are currently interrogating Amit regarding several criminal cases and other offences registered against him. He had reportedly been declared a proclaimed offender, and police had been searching for him for a considerable period.

Investigators have alleged that Amit was in close contact with jailed gangster Goldy Dhillon. According to the probe, he was the key conspirator behind the murder of Janki Das and allegedly arranged weapons and funds for the accused involved in the crime.

The investigation is ongoing, and Chandigarh Police are expected to seek his custody once the Jammu Police complete their interrogation.
