The issue of alleged neglect of local youth and lack of transparency in government jobs and outsourced recruitments in Chandigarh was raised in Parliament. Manish Tewari questioned the recruitment system of the Chandigarh Administration in the Lok Sabha and demanded accountability.
However, Tewari termed the response provided by the government as “incomplete and evasive,” raising further concerns about the clarity of recruitment processes.
Through Question No. 4971, Tewari sought detailed data from the Ministry of Labour and Employment for the past five years and the current year. He asked for information on the total number of individuals registered with the Chandigarh Employment Exchange, as well as the number of candidates who secured employment in various departments of the administration.
The MP also sought a breakdown of recruitments made on a temporary, contractual, and outsourced basis, highlighting concerns that such hiring practices may lack transparency and fairness, particularly for local job seekers.
The issue has once again brought into focus the growing dependence on outsourced recruitment in government departments and the need for greater transparency to ensure equal opportunities for local youth.
