Chandigarh Police has busted another module linked to the foreign-based gangster Goldy Dhillon gang and arrested three alleged criminals who were reportedly planning a major crime in the city. The accused, all residents of Samba district in Jammu, were found in possession of sophisticated firearms and ammunition.
The arrested suspects have been identified as 20-year-old Happy Chib, 24-year-old Rahul, and 19-year-old Vansh Sharma. They were apprehended by a joint team of the Operation Cell and Crime Branch Police Station.
Addressing a press conference at the Police Headquarters in Sector 9, SP Manjeet Sheron said that apart from the shooters arrested in connection with the firing incident at Shri Kumar Medical Store in Sector 11, police had also brought the three accused from Samba to Chandigarh for further investigation.
Preliminary investigations suggest that the trio was allegedly acting on the instructions of foreign-based gangster Goldy Dhillon and was preparing to execute a criminal operation in Chandigarh. Police said the planned crime was foiled before it could be carried out.
During the operation, police recovered one foreign-made C47 9mm pistol, one .32 bore pistol, and nine live cartridges from the accused.
Officials said all three have previous criminal records and are being questioned for their possible involvement in other cases.
According to police, Happy Chib is facing six criminal cases and was found with one pistol and two cartridges. Rahul, who has two cases registered against him, was also carrying one pistol and two cartridges. Vansh Sharma, who has four criminal cases against him, was found in possession of five live cartridges.
Police are continuing their investigation to uncover the gang's wider network and any additional criminal conspiracies linked to the module.
