Chandigarh witnessed a sudden change in weather on Wednesday as thick clouds covered the sky, followed by heavy rainfall accompanied by strong winds and lightning. The unexpected weather shift brought relief from heat but also caused brief disruptions in several areas.
According to the Chandigarh Meteorological Centre, a yellow alert has been issued for May 6. The alert warns of thunderstorms, rain, lightning, and strong winds at several places. During this period, wind speeds are expected to reach 30 to 40 kmph.
Officials further stated that the weather is likely to remain dry after this short spell of rain, with no alerts issued from May 7 to May 9.
Meanwhile, Rupnagar recorded the highest temperature in the region, with Bhakra Dam area reporting 34.1°C.
