A 23-year-old man from Chandigarh died after collapsing while exercising at a gym in Mohali. The tragic incident occurred while he was performing leg workout exercises at a gym in Phase 3B2. His wife and a friend were reportedly working out alongside him when he suddenly fell unconscious.
According to police, the deceased has been identified as Mukesh Rajput, a resident of Sector 56, Chandigarh. On Wednesday, he had visited Fit Expo Gym in Mohali along with his wife Sandhya and friend Aman for a workout session.
Eyewitnesses said Mukesh was engaged in a leg exercise when he suddenly felt dizzy and collapsed on the floor. Within seconds, he lost consciousness, causing panic among other gym members and staff present at the facility.
His wife, friend, and gym staff immediately rushed to help him. With the assistance of others present at the gym, he was taken to a nearby private hospital. Despite efforts by doctors to revive him, he could not be saved and was declared dead after medical examination.
The incident has raised questions about safety measures at the gym, including whether a trainer was present at the time of the emergency. Police have seized CCTV footage from the gym and launched an investigation into the matter.
Officials said statements of the family members will be recorded, and if any negligence on the part of the gym management is found, appropriate action will be taken. The body has been handed over to the family after a post-mortem examination.
Mukesh had reportedly married just five months ago, making the incident even more heartbreaking for his family and loved ones.
