Counter Intelligence (CI) Pathankot has foiled an alleged foreign-based targeted killing plot with the arrest of two operatives and the recovery of two sophisticated .30 bore pistols and 10 live cartridges, Punjab Director General of Police (DGP) Gaurav Yadav said on Friday.
The arrested accused have been identified as Ravinder Singh alias Dhillon, a resident of Dhilwan in Batala, and Jashanpreet Singh of village Bal in Gurdaspur. Police also impounded their brand-new Splendor motorcycle, which was being used without a registration number.
According to the DGP, preliminary investigation has revealed that the accused were allegedly operating at the behest of a foreign-based handler and had recently returned from Dubai to carry out the assigned task.
DGP Yadav said further investigation is underway to trace the backward and forward linkages of the network and identify other operatives associated with the foreign-based handlers.
AIG CI Pathankot Sukhminder Singh Mann said the police had received specific information that two motorcycle-borne men carrying weapons were travelling from Gurdaspur towards Batala to execute a targeted killing.
Acting on the intelligence input, CI Pathankot teams cordoned off the area and intercepted the suspects on the outskirts of Gurdaspur. During the search, two .30 bore pistols and 10 live cartridges were recovered from their possession.
A case has been registered as FIR No. 57 dated September 10, 2026, under Section 25 of the Arms Act and Section 61(2) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) at Police Station State Special Operation Cell (SSOC), Amritsar.
