CM Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu today inaugurated the first digital library of the state in Bilaspur, equipped with essential amenities and seating arrangements for 40 persons. He said that the digital library houses approximately 2,500 books, including offline access to NCERT and CBSE books from classes 1st to 12th. Additionally, resources for college courses, competitive exams and various educational books will be available to readers in the digital library.
Sukhu said, “The library offers free access to reading materials via touch screen devices, servers and social media platforms. The facility is equipped with RFID technology, enabling a smart management system that benefits users by streamlining library functions. To enhance user experience, each reader will be issued an ID card, which must be scanned for library entry.”
The district library includes a large reading hall, an e-library, computer tablets, appropriate furniture and other necessary facilities for students. For security, the library is monitored through a CCTV surveillance network.
The Chief Minister engaged with students at the digital library, where they expressed their gratitude for the government’s commitment to integrating digital technology and enhancing civic amenities to them.
