Himachal Pradesh Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu on Wednesday inaugurated a state-of-the-art digital library at Himachal Pradesh University (HPU) during the university's 57th Foundation Day celebrations. On the occasion, he also laid the foundation stones for several development projects within the university campus.
Addressing the gathering, the Chief Minister said that higher education must evolve with modern technology to meet the changing needs of students and researchers. He noted that the new digital library would provide students, research scholars, and faculty members with access to advanced academic resources, enhancing learning and research opportunities.
Sukhu said the state government is committed to strengthening higher education institutions through technological advancement, ensuring quality education and improved research facilities for students across Himachal Pradesh.
The event was attended by Shimla Urban MLA Harish Janartha, Shimla Deputy Commissioner Anupam Kashyap, HPU Vice-Chancellor Prof. Mahavir Singh, university officials, faculty members, research scholars, students, and other distinguished guests. The ceremony also highlighted the university's achievements and outlined its future development plans.
