Commuters in Delhi-NCR will have to pay more for CNG as Indraprastha Gas Limited (IGL) has announced a ₹3.89 per kg hike in prices, effective from 6 am on Saturday.

Following the revision, CNG in Delhi will cost ₹86.98 per kg, up from ₹83.09. This is the fifth CNG price hike this year.

IGL said the increase has been driven by higher LNG import costs, rising international gas prices and growing demand for CNG. The company had earlier raised prices by a total of ₹6 per kg in four phases in May amid a surge in global energy prices linked to the West Asia conflict.

Under the revised rates, CNG will cost ₹95.59 per kg in Noida and Ghaziabad, ₹95.47 in Meerut and ₹92.01 in Gurugram.

IGL said the ongoing crisis in West Asia has disrupted LNG supplies and shipping through the Strait of Hormuz, pushing global LNG prices to nearly double compared with pre-crisis levels. Rising demand for gas storage in Europe ahead of winter has also added pressure.

The company said increasing CNG demand in India has led to greater reliance on imported spot LNG, raising its input gas costs. Despite the hike, IGL maintained that CNG remains a more economical fuel option compared with other conventional fuels.
