MLA Dhaliwal Assures Pending Survey Areas Will Also Receive Compensation Soon

In a major relief effort for farmers affected by recent floods in Amritsar, Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) leader, former cabinet minister and current MLA Kuldeep Singh Dhaliwal on Tuesday distributed compensation worth ₹2.20 crore to 515 flood-hit farmers belonging to 17 villages of the Ajnala area.

The special event, held in Ajnala, aimed at reducing the financial burden on farmers whose crops, fields, and agricultural assets were damaged during the floods. For many local farmers, this financial aid has come as a significant boost at a time when they were struggling to recover from substantial economic losses.

Dhaliwal said that in the aftermath of the floods, a large number of farmers faced severe hardships due to crop destruction, waterlogged fields, and damage to machinery and agricultural inputs. The distributed compensation, he said, is the government’s effort to help them restart farming activities without further delay.

Addressing the gathering, MLA Kuldeep Singh Dhaliwal reiterated that the state government is committed to helping every affected farmer. He stated that he had earlier promised people of his constituency that flood relief would be delivered at the earliest, and he had been continuously working toward ensuring it. Dhaliwal announced that the administration has set a target to complete compensation distribution for the entire Ajnala flood-affected region by November 30.

He further clarified that compensation will also be provided to farmers from villages where survey work is still pending. Once the surveys are completed, those farmers will also receive financial relief without any delay. He emphasized that no flood-affected family will be left out of the government’s compensation scheme.

Dhaliwal said the government intends to extend every possible support to ensure farmers can bring their agricultural operations back on track. He also directed officials to maintain complete transparency in the compensation process and to address farmers’ concerns on priority.

Farmers present at the event welcomed the initiative, calling the timely financial assistance a crucial step in helping them revive their fields and resume cultivation. Many said that the relief amount would enable them to prepare their land again and purchase essential farming inputs that were lost in the floods.

The compensation drive is being viewed as a much-needed intervention for the rural community, especially those struggling with financial recovery after crop loss. Farmers expressed hope that such quick action from the government will continue during future emergencies as well.
