Dozens of Congress workers and several families from Nanowal village in the Sri Anandpur Sahib Assembly constituency joined the Aam Aadmi Party. A Congress-linked sarpanch was also among those who joined the party. Cabinet Minister and Sri Anandpur Sahib MLA Harjot Singh Bains welcomed the new members and urged them to contribute towards strengthening the party’s policies and public welfare initiatives.
According to the party, the new members decided to join the Aam Aadmi Party after being influenced by the policies of the Punjab government led by Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann and the development and public welfare work being carried out across Punjab and in the Sri Anandpur Sahib constituency.
The newly joined workers said that the government’s efforts to maintain direct contact with residents, listen to their concerns and address local issues had influenced their decision. They also referred to a recent public meeting held in Jindwari village, where a large number of residents raised their problems and demands before the government.
The workers said several development projects were being carried out in villages across the constituency under the leadership of Harjot Singh Bains. These include road and bridge projects, infrastructure development and arrangements for irrigation water in the Changer area. Work is also underway on new bridges and culverts in different parts of the constituency.
They further said that work on widening the Nangal-Kiratpur Sahib road into a four-lane road has also progressed. The project is expected to strengthen transportation and connectivity in the area.
Harjot Singh Bains said the main objective of the Aam Aadmi Party government was to ensure that people received the benefits of government schemes and facilities without discrimination. He said party volunteers and workers were regularly reaching out to residents, understanding their needs and listening to their problems.
Bains said politics should focus on brotherhood, mutual respect and development rather than a spirit of political revenge. He said the government would work with people from every village and every section of the constituency to accelerate development.
The newly inducted members said they would actively work to take the Aam Aadmi Party’s policies and the government’s development and welfare initiatives to households across the constituency. Bains welcomed all the new members and said they would be given full respect within the party and would work together for the development of Sri Anandpur Sahib.
