A new political buzz has witnessed after controversial posters targeting former Punjab Chief Minister and Jalandhar MP Charanjit Singh Channi surfaced across Ferozepur just ahead of Punjab Congress in-charge Bhupesh Baghel’s scheduled visit on August 4.
The posters, put up at various locations in Ferozepur, show Channi’s photograph with the word “RSS” written on his T-shirt. The message on the posters reads: “Rahul Gandhi ji, hear the voice of Congress workers, expel Channi from the Congress.”
The posters have triggered intense discussions within the Congress party. Significantly, Channi had addressed a public rally in Ferozepur earlier in the day, where thousands of Congress workers and supporters were present. The rally was seen as an attempt to project party unity, but the appearance of the posters soon afterward has raised several questions.
Political observers believe that the timing of the posters—just before Bhupesh Baghel’s visit—has fueled speculation about possible internal factionalism within the Punjab Congress. However, it remains unclear who was responsible for putting up the posters, and no individual or organization has claimed responsibility so far.
All eyes are now on Bhupesh Baghel’s Ferozepur visit on August 4, as it remains to be seen whether he will comment on the controversy. Meanwhile, neither the Congress party nor Charanjit Singh Channi has issued any official statement on the matter.
