A husband and wife were found dead after allegedly dying by suicide in Jalalabad area of Punjab’s Fazilka district. Their bodies were discovered hanging from rope nooses inside their house on Monday morning, triggering shock in the village.
The deceased have been identified as Pippal Singh and his wife Lakhwinder Kaur, residents of Bhamba Wattu village. According to family members, the couple had been married for nearly 10 years and had no children.
Relatives said they rushed to the house after receiving information about the incident and found both dead. The matter was then reported to the Ghubaya police outpost, following which a police team reached the spot and began an investigation.
Pippal Singh’s brother Raj Singh said that the couple lived together in the village and that Pippal Singh was affected by polio and mostly stayed at home. He was also associated with the service of Baba Khetrapal.
The deceased’s maternal uncle Jarnail Singh said the couple had been facing emotional stress for some time due to childlessness. Family members stated that Pippal Singh was often worried about his future and remained under mental pressure.
However, police officials have not yet confirmed the exact reason behind the alleged suicide. Investigators are examining all possible angles, and further action will be taken based on the findings of the inquiry.
The bodies have been taken into custody for post-mortem examination, and police said the investigation is continuing.
